Benjamin K refreshing new-age RnB album “Ben 2 Real” [Music + Interview]

Benjamin K refreshing new-age RnB album “Ben 2 Real” [Music + Interview]

Benjamin K refreshing new-age RnB album “Ben 2 Real” [Music + Interview]

With a brilliant blend of melodic R&B and hardcore trap comes North Carolinian artist, Benjamin Ken. Loaded with fourteen, versatile tracks, is his recent, astronomical endeavor, “BEN 2 REAL”. When it comes down to it, there is a distinct dichotomy that spans the entirety of the project. On one hand lies the gentle, melodious side of the Atlanta-based artist, that bleeds out on records such as “INTRO (HERE FOR YOU)”, “PRETTY GIRL VIBES”, “REAL ONE (ft. Lea Robinson)”, “DRUNK TEXT”, and “LIFELINE”, among others. In the shadow of that hand, lies Ken’s darker half, molded by those Southern streets. That treacherous, trunk-thumping sound can be found in cuts such as “ROOFTOPS”, “2 Real”, “GUCCI (ft. Walt)”, “CELEBRATION” and “CRAZZI”.

What Ken demonstrates through this duality, is the powerful dexterity of his songwriting. He proves proficient in crafting slow-burning, alt-R&B records for the ladies; while, likewise, giving fellas a list of bangers to ride to. The only other we’ve ever known as skilled with this separation of sound, hails from Toronto, and has been dominating the charts for the past ten years, hit after hit. The moment “BEN 2 REAL”, in all of its impressive versatility, hits the mainstream, Benjamin Ken could be following in those same, exact footsteps. Click the link, and see for yourself.

XNDRSOUND and beatmaker, Humbeats mean business on a well-thought out, creative, work of art, that stands out within only 4 tracks. Read more in the press release below and follow the movement asap.

"October's Eve is the second EP by artist XNDRSOUND. The follow-up to his debut EP September is a 4-track project produced exclusively by Humbeats. XNDRSOUND brings a mix of dark, R&B, down-tempo tracks and a creates a mood throughout the project. Sticking to the theme of autumn and his breakout single Paranormal, the project starts with Very Scary a brief two minute intro about XNDR's experience with the energy of other artists in the scene. 95 is a single style track with is uptempo and a bit out of character but provides a necessary boost in energy to an otherwise mellow project. Cnflctd is an introspective R&B where XNDR questions a relationship he once had that he was sure to last that has now fallen into disarray. Takeoff, the outro looks to solidify XNDR's confidence in himself and his team."

Papi Lotus sends powerful message with new video “D.A.R.E”

Papi Lotus sends powerful message with new video “D.A.R.E”

Papi Lotus sends powerful message with new video “D.A.R.E”

D.A.R.E or Drug Abuse Resistance Education is a program which originated back in the 80's to prevent the use of drugs. Today, rising alternative R&B artist/producer, Papi Lotus, addresses the drug abuse issue in a very unique way with his powerful new video titled “D.A.R.E”.

Papi Lotus and director, Luke Conway have created a dark and deteriorated world which serves as a metaphor for a tainted past relationship. The 1st thing you hear is soothing ominous distortion. Then all of a sudden you will be blown away by a botanical garden of audio and beautiful auto-tuned harmonies. However, you can feel the friction early as Papi Lotus sets the scene. He immediately addresses better things that he could be doing with his time rather than being with her. She is a drug and alcohol abuser who he seems to recognize less and less until she disappears completely. Papi Lotus has made a successful career for writing stories that captivate and educate. He says, “I feel like alot of my friends and people I knew, lost apart of themselves to drugs. I really wanted to put a song out there against drugs, kind of like an anti-drug campaign.”

In addition to dropping the hot new video, Papi Lotus recently spoke with USA Blog Network's #TheDopeness interview series, giving detailed behind-the-scenes info about the new vid. Watch “D.A.R.E” and download it today on Spotify!
