Izzy Strange Ft Nikki Jean - Things Change (Prod By Nate Fox) | @ishestrange @nikkijean @alldayrecess

Izzy Strange returns to the forefront with his second power packed single "Things Changed" featuring Rhymesayers very own, Nikki Jean.

Lifted from off his forthcoming EP, "I"m From Where You're From", Izzy and frequent collaborator Nate Fox construct a fell good anthem that speaks about reflection. That reflection is looking at just how things change whether it's your mindset or hometown. Change is inevitable in life but ultimately, you have the choice to grow on your own terms or be forced into it. Nate provides the playful production as Izzy and Nikki trade real life tales that will surely have you traveling down memory lane.

"Things Change" follows Izzy Strange's first single, "What You Tryna Do?", which features an incredible feature from Feddie Gibbs and was picked up by sites such as All Hip Hop and Hip Hop Since 1987. Nikki Jean adds an incredible vibe to the single by not only contributing a verse but also provides the hook. She's been hard at work since signing onto the Rhymesayers imprint and released her latest album, "Beautiful Prison".

"Things Change" is yet another solid release crafted by the Pennsylvanian emcee who now calls Las Vegas home. Listen to "Things Change" below and stay tuned for more music and "I'm From Where You're From" to arrive very soon.

Phor - "Cardio" (Video)

Chicago rapper Phor released his new single “Cardio” today. The Lehday-produced track was delivered with an accompanying visual. Drenched in wordplay, the track’s 808-heavy soundscape is the perfect workout companion, while the Art Camp-directed video lightheartedly touches on Phor’s personal journey to a healthy cardio-filled lifestyle. “It helps more mentally than physically,” explains Phor. “Cardio” is available on all streaming platforms now, watch the video HERE.

“Cardio” comes on the heels of Phor’s latest project, Cake, a 13-song collection released to memorialize the passing of his cousin with the tribute track “Truly Missed”.  In 2017, Phor released Butterfly, which delivered his biggest hit to date, “Chi-Town.” An ode to the city that raised him, the song gained momentum at mid-west radio with well over 2M views on the Azae-directed visuals and culminated in a remix from Chicago’s southside heavyweights, BumpJ, Twista and Lil Durk.

Phor is a multidimensional creative in the truest sense of the word. Whether designing sneakers for Nike post high school, tattooing masterpieces or crafting hits in the studio, his savant-level creativity is underscored by his influence in Chicago. Music is not a hobby for Phor, but instead his full-time passion -  a passion so strong, it positions him for world renowned musical success.

Seattle Rapper Maribased1 Brings The Vibes With "Mystery Girl"

Seattle Rapper Maribased1 Brings The Vibes With "Mystery Girl"

Seattle Rapper Maribased1 Brings The Vibes With "Mystery Girl"

A lot of rappers love to talk about how they came up all on their own. What they're less excited to spit bars about is that they happened to be a part of a hugely hyped scene, a crew with a platinum artist or two, or were a record exec's 3rd cousin. Inner-city Seattle's Maribased1 is a true lone wolf, running it in a city that isn't exactly known for hip-hop - yet. But if he keeps hustling at the level of "Mystery Girl, pretty soon every other MC north of Oakland is going to be claiming they were kicking it in Rainier Beach way back in the day. His videos for "Bouncin" and "Score’n" racked up solid plays on BET Jams and MTV On-Demand, huge for an independent artist. The BJ&J Entertainment artist packed them in on a tour with controversial LA MC Blueface, while his videos have already blown past a million views. You heard what he said: he's score’n.

Maribased1 coined his style "The Northern Flow," because no current catch-alls or buzzwords did his echo-drenched, laid back tracks justice. Try not to look surprised when some young-uns start repping it a year from now. Throughout "Mystery Girl," he kicks his signature zen-like flow atop a piano-and-synth bounce, with bars upon bars full of unexpected phrasings and subtle switch-ups. After "Score’n" and "Bouncin," he takes a break from the braggadocio to tell a seldom-told, uplifting tale of a strong, resilient, independent woman. His awe of her, and his vocal energy, grow with each verse as he rattles off her struggles and triumphs. The track caps off with the loopy groove of a trademark Maribased1 rock guitar lead, leaving us as blown away by this Queen as the man himself.

Director Rob Fitzgerald set up a dual narrative for "Mystery Girl," a before-and-after Cinderella story that paints a striking picture of the life she left behind, and the one she's since built for herself. Most of the clip is set in her baller high-rise apartment, overlooking downtown Seattle. In these scenes, all Mystery Girl's got to do to let you know who's on top is be herself, lounging with a glass of wine in hand, against the night sky. But when her mind wanders, she relives the not-so-good old days. Now in the harsh light of day, she's arguing with a boyfriend – played by Mista Benjamin, Seattle hip-hop staple and head of BJ&J Entertainment - who's clearly beneath her, staring into the mirror asking herself some hard questions, and finally walking out for good. It's history she's never going to repeat. Maribased1 ends his own screen time, and the video, with a nice visual callback to a classic about another mysterious woman, by the name of Billie Jean.

South Florida Rapper F$O Dinero Drops Fire New Video For "Talk To Me"

South Florida Rapper F$O Dinero Drops Fire New Video For "Talk To Me"

South Florida Rapper F$O Dinero Drops Fire New Video For "Talk To Me"

Ever since emerging from Fort Lauderdale in 2018 with "Blue Bills," F$O Dinero has been unstoppable. The tireless rapper and songwriter has released one hit after another, barely pausing between bangers to take a breath. He's cut explosive records with the F$O Clan – his crew of like-minded South Florida emcees – and on his own, and he's made a name for himself as the rare hedonist who is never too caught up in the revelry to miss an opportunity to make a shrewd observation. That compelling balance of playfulness and pure menace is on full display on Color Money, F$O Dinero's debut full-length project and an instant warm-weather classic that firmly established the young artist's multidimensional personality. He's a wit, a roughneck, a lover, a party-starter, and plenty more.

And as fresh as his music is, he's just carrying on tradition. South Florida hip-hop has always been a playground for larger-than-life personalities. F$O Dinero is the latest in a succession of Sunshine State rap champions and provocateurs that stretches back at least as far as Luther Campbell, and runs through Rick Ross and Trick Daddy to Denzel Curry and SpaceGhostPurrp. With recent singles "Panty Droppa" and "Broward," F$O Dinero proved that he deserves to stand in that company. "Talk To Me," his latest, is a demonstration of his flexibility, and a sign of surprises to come.

It's also the pivotal track on Color Money – the measured song that helps the madness coalesce. On "Talk To Me,F$O Dinero is barely a bad boy at all: instead, he's sweet-talking his girlfriend, delivering seductive lyrics with absolute sincerity, and quite a bit of vulnerability, too. F$O Dinero raps most of the song, but he sings much of it too; in either case, his delivery is rhythmically precise, succinct, and lean. The clip for "Talk To Me" is equally sentimental – the rapper greets his girl with a bouquet and purrs to her in a pink-lit bedroom. There's a real sense of domesticity to the clip, too. In one memorable sequence, he playfully wrestles with his co-star for the remote control to the television. They've done this many times before, and they'll do it many times again. This is all a far cry from the pure adrenaline of F$O Dinero's prior clips, and that's on purpose: he's deepening the character, and showing the world exactly how much he can do.

Jersey Singer Justina Valentine Kills It With Her New Single "Strawberry Soda"

Jersey Singer Justina Valentine Kills It With Her New Single "Strawberry Soda"

Jersey Singer Justina Valentine Kills It With Her New Single "Strawberry Soda"

It isn't enough to look great. It isn't enough to drop hot records. It isn't even enough to be a TV and Internet star with a long list of credits. To acquire and maintain three million Instagram followers as a legitimate independent, you've got to grind hard. You can't take a day off: you've got to delight, surprise, and shock your audience continuously. This isn't a path an ordinary artist can follow, but Justina Valentine is far from ordinary. The Jersey-born singer, songwriter, and rapper is built for this moment in pop cultural history – a moment that belongs to the bold, racy, colorful, and the irrepressible. It's her day, and she's making the most of it.

"Strawberry Soda," her latest single, is about as tasty as records come. The song rides in on a trap beat, and a hip-swiveling synthesizer, and crashes headlong into a hip-hop chorus that aims directly for the pleasure centers and hits the mark with a satisfying smack. As she always does, Justina Valentine owns the beat from the moment she begins rapping. As for her rhymes, well, we're not going to ruin the surprise for you. Just brace yourself for show-stealing wit and scene-setting detail, and more than a few lines that could make the most jaded rap fan blush.

The new track builds on the success of Favorite Vibe, the summer 2019 album that firmly established Justina Valentine as a musical provocateur with few equals. The video for "Damn," the sizzling lead single from that set, premiered on Substream, which praised her "impressive wordplay," her "undeniable star power," and her twerking skills, too. The tastemakers at Indie Hip-Hop agreed, calling her a "rhyme slayer" and a magnetic presence in front of the camera.

But we don't think she's ever been more alluring, more outrageous, or more energetic than she is in the "Strawberry Soda" clip. She also demonstrates her stylistic flexibility – not to mention her sense of rap geography – by snatching up men from all of the major metropolitan areas. That's Justina in a classic Californian car with a guy from Los Angeles, Justina in football gear with a New England Patriots supporter, Justina heating up the screen with a Miami boy, and of course, Justina with a roughneck from Newark, New Jersey. She issues the same challenge to all of them: Keep up with me if you can.

New Jersey Rapper 2Dee Shares His Story In "Say Less"

New Jersey Rapper 2Dee Shares His Story In "Say Less"

New Jersey Rapper 2Dee Shares His Story In "Say Less"

Music takes its shape in many forms. Sometimes as the background noise to your busy life. Sometimes as the escape from your rugged routine. For 2Dee, rap music was his outlet while growing up to keep him distracted from the rough patches of the Newark streets. He was born in Haiti and came to New Jersey when he was three, eventually established a mutual music connection with a few guys, and began Wyld Stylaz.

After years of success with the rap group and working with Mozzy, Zoey Dollaz, and French Montana., things began to fall apart due to legal issues some members found themselves in. 2Dee decided to embark on a solo project to focus on his own growth. He is a self-made artist, teaching himself how to mix, master, produce, and to play the guitar and piano. Now, he does it all himself with a few trusted people which includes his brother and producer (Xclusive). 2Dee finds inspiration in artists that worked their way up independently like Yo Gotti, Jay Z and Tech N9ne.

“Say Less” brings the audience to the forefront of the current political landscape in America, where the divide between law enforcement and urban/immigrant communities continues to worsen. The music video begins with a police officer demanding Xclusive's (2Dee’s brother) information after pulling him over with no explanation. Suddenly, a gunshot breaks the silence, and the cop tries to get a grip, dazed and confused, of what he just heard. Yet every time he asks for help, he is faced with a beaten and battered person of color, covering their mouths with their national flag.

The victims are a jab at police brutality, which heavily targets minorities. The cop comes out of his manic illusion after being forced to come face to face with wounded black prisoners and lets Xclusive (2Dee's brother) go after imagining one last injury on his face. The hallucination represents the all-too-familiar ending for many victims of police brutality, who have learned to mind their business and keep hustling despite the irreversible physical and mental damage they receive from the people that are supposed to be protecting them.

Texas Native Raylon Drops His Smash "Over You"

Texas Native Raylon Drops His Smash "Over You"

Texas Native Raylon Drops His Smash "Over You"

Texas native Raylon is a self-made artist, one who juggles academics, track and field triumphs, and studio sessions that craft his approach to music. Although he has a soft spot for country music, Raylon hones in on an R&B/harmony rap style influenced by respected figures like Michael Jackson, Chris Brown, and Usher. Despite spending the majority of his time producing and writing music, he also dominates his school’s track and field team and loves to dance. Raylon is still up-and-coming but has mapped out his music career; he plans on releasing more music and jumping into the touring realm.

One of Raylon’s main goals is to expand his audience base, and the music video for “Over You” does exactly that. With his charismatic smile and most fashionable streetwear apparel, Raylon reminisces about a love that was once everything but is gone now - the type of love that, no matter the reason, you just can't move on from. The sun is beginning to set, and Raylon bounces between the studio and a glowing neighborhood, serenading to the camera about the love you never truly forget.

Miami Rapper CHELZZZ Shines In Her "Somewhere In Miami" Music Video

Miami Rapper CHELZZZ Shines In Her "Somewhere In Miami" Music Video

Miami Rapper CHELZZZ Shines In Her "Somewhere In Miami" Music Video

The environment that surrounds you impacts your well-being, your progress, and your outlook. This is why Chelzzz relocated from Detroit to Miami, where the music industry welcomed her with open arms. Influenced by her basketball team to top figures ranging from Nicki Minaj to Lil Kim, Chelzzz was hooked on the rap wordplay game right away. Her music path was on and off due to some trouble she fell into but has restructured her priorities to solely music and activism. Chelzzz connects people through her lyricism; she knows that people struggle every day, and by being honest with her hardships, she can relate to her listeners.

Elevator Magazine perfectly describes her as “the white female Lil Wayne & Eminem mashed with the sex appeal of Rihanna.” Chelzzz is a significant supporter of the LGBT community as a lesbian rapper. The scrutiny she faced throughout her life turned into motivation for her music and a will to keep grinding. A self-described “firecracker” Chelzzz knows how to make her beats work for her; she brings attitude to the mic with such intensity that comes off as slightly intimidating yet overpowered by intrigue.

Picturesque blue skies, pretty girls, and bold colors, “Somewhere in Miami” encompasses the culture, the attitude, and grit Miami has to offer. Chelzzz knows she might not be the most well behaved, but she stays on top of her game, so no one steps over her. She left behind her old life and “manners” in exchange for the highest-end apparel and Rolls Royce flex through the town. Unlike many hip-hop videos where women are sexual commodities and show off because of their seductive appeal, “Somewhere in Miami” portrays women as power figures, where they make the decisions and are the “ballers.” Chelzzz not only works hard and plays hard for herself but makes sure her music is a platform to lift others up as well.

New York Legends Force M.D's Drop New Single "Make U Happy"

New York Legends Force M.D's Drop New Single "Make U Happy"

New York Legends Force M.D's Drop New Single "Make U Happy"

Although Valentine’s Day just passed, love is still in the air. The classic eighties hip/hop and R&B icons Force M.D.'s are all about the type of adoration that is gentle, patient, and candlelit. The group now consist of Steven Lundy (Stevie D), Khalil Lundy, and nephew Zieme Capers who are continuing the Legacy. The Force M.D.'s were one of the first groups to blend doo-wop harmonies over hip-hop beats. Their humble formation found them performing on the street corners of Greenwich Village and the Staten Island Ferry. The Force M.D.'s are the perfect combination of an R&B vocal group sprinkled with street attitude and dusted with old school hip-hop roots.

They reached mainstream success from their hit “Tender Love” (from the Krush Groove soundtrack and the 1985 album "Chillin’"). This song was their breakout, peaking at #10 for 19 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It even awarded producers ‪Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis‬ a Grammy Award for Producer of the Year. The group followed up with their next smash hit “Love is a House" from the “Touch 'n Go” album in 1987 which landed the group their first number one song. Force M.D.'s put on a dazzling live performance which is always filled with uplifting soulful passion and captivating classics and renditions.

Plush furniture, glittering gold outfits, and romantic serenades are the backdrop for “Make U Happy.” The music video, which was fittingly released on February 14th, shows the three-gentleman smooth-talking their way to each woman in their life. Sparks fly as the troupe harmonizes on lush white couches, in the studio, and in front of an engaging crowd. Each soft smile sends Force M.D.s flying “into this special place called love.” Funnily enough, the day they made this song, the group was in a bad mood, but after recording the song and deciding on the title, it instantly changed their mood.
