RA Light drops enlightening new hip-hop album “Round 2”

RA Light drops enlightening new hip-hop album “Round 2”

RA Light started his recent project, “Round 2”, off with a poignant, acapella tribute to the late, great Nipsey Hussle. Duly, that intro sets the stage for the EP— foreshadowing an opus that will impact lyrically as hard as it does sonically. Upon listening to this alternative, New York City album, this prophecy quickly actualizes; and before you know it, you are flying through a brisk rollercoaster of RA Light’s ingenious mind.

“Round 2” is undeniably brief, yet nevertheless, it packs a jaw-rocking punch. After the intro, “New Wave”, the Bronx rapper bolts us into a romantic, dancehall-inspired banger titled “Nina”, featuring Makinout. This record gives “Round 2” a substantial, radio-ready smash. One whose rhythm and groove can in-arguably crack into the mainstream. Following that, is the strongly Hip-Hop influenced “Grind”; whose blitz of bars and trap-heavy production give the album an anthem any rap-loving crowd can get behind. “Za Jester” is the most individualistic cut on “Round 2”— bolstering idiosyncratic melodies and flows over an abyssmal, piano-driven beat. The lyrical approach of RA Light on this track solidifies his standing as a unique force in underground Hip-Hop. A statement that is nicely ended with the outro-instrumental, “Space Switch Tease”. Verily with this release, RA Light will amass a great deal of hype for himself. He already has us anticipating another full-length, with which we can crown him a rising prince.

Strong Arm Family Presents "BoldBeats The Mixtape"

Strong Arm Family Presents "BoldBeats The Mixtape"

He only gave us four tracks. Yet, from that small, however, torrid selection of his upcoming album, we can already tell that Bold Beats will be one of your new-school favorites. As for “BoldBeats The Mixtape”?— there exists no greater an addition to your autumn nights. This project radiates with commercial appeal; created by an artist whose star-power is of even brighter vibrance.

Bold Beats, above all things, proves to be exceptionally skilled at crafting hit records. He is a producer, song-writer, and rapper; and expresses the sum of these talents with a collection of irresistible singles. “Know You” is a guitar-driven, alternative-trap love song flourishing with catchiness. “Drugs” carries equivalent caliber through its radio-ready melody, and club-rocking tempo; and “Ocean Eyes” is an introspective, auto-tuned banger that will trap itself in your head the very moment it ends. Each and every one of these favorited, three singles flaunts flawless delivery, production and songwriting; with lyricism that dashes between brisk and jubilant to somber and melancholic. As much as we experience the new-age excellence of “BoldBeats The Mixtape”, we are equally experiencing the multiple sides of a Chambersburg champion on the rise. For, if we are judging by these four tracks alone; the rap game will have another star shooting across its Billboard skies, and nothing will stand to block his shine.

Jetcity Records 22-track collab project “Welcome To Jet City” takes hip-hop to new, modern-trap heights

Jetcity Records 22-track collab project “Welcome To Jet City” takes hip-hop to new, modern-trap heights

It is utterly insane how electric Jetcity Records can make a twenty-two track project sound. With their long-awaited debut, “Welcome To Jet City”, this high-flying Hip-Hop collective takes compilation albums to new, modern-trap heights.

Peep the sweet video interview with JetCity Records:

Almost every track on “Welcome To Jet City” is a profound posse cut. Loco 2k, Nucky JMC, Rup Monsta, Skyler, Big Ox, Aye Michelle, and Ag Souljah are the prominent pyromaniacs of the album; blazing through hooks and verses with lyricism and inflections that keep the energy at an all time high. What is likewise captivating about “Welcome To Jet City” is that it is not a constant stream of original content. Rocking the ride, every now and then, is the turbulence of mainstream remixes. “Thotiana” by Blueface; “Lil Bebe” by Danileigh; “Middle Child” by J Cole; “Going Bad” by Meek Mill and Drake; each one of these records are terrifically remixed by the talents on this album, steering it into clouds of spontaneous exhilaration. Certainly, “Welcome To Jet City” may intimidate you with the length of its tracklist. However, once play is pressed, and the debut opus truly takes off, you will not regret a single song. With such an invigorating list of bangers, this soaring collective simply cannot be shot down.

NIU Kno releases artful new compilation album: “Life, is But A Dream”

NIU Kno releases artful new compilation album: “Life, is But A Dream”

NIU Kno releases artful new compilation album: “Life, is But A Dream”

Are we living a dream or reality? The latest effort by LIV3 FR33, a Los Angeles brand spearheaded by producer-artist, NIU Kno, blurs that line with excellence. For “Life, Is But A Dream”, a compilation album outfitted with nine, lucid tracks, the artist(s) gives the themes of sleep, dreaming, and afterlife, sonic prevalence. Its features lunge from Fatlip, 777Kamikaze and Kay Franklin to Mary Dee, Korryn Gaines and NIU Kno himself, with each one of these artists delivering an idiosyncratic twist to the overall concept of the project. Samples are lush and plentiful; drums frolic in the fields of both trap and boom-bap; and the bars on “Life...” are beyond bewildering. Spin joints such as “Sleepwalking”, “Sunshine”, “Virtual Insanity”, or even the penultimate record “Walk Str8”, and the reverie of life will equivalently reveal itself to you. For “Life, Is But A Dream” is an unavoidable epiphany that LIV3 FR33 flawlessly inspires.
