“Dubai Dreams” // Ko-Bena drops inspirational hiphop song

Liberian-born, Atlanta-based rap artist Ko-Bena releases his latest single “Dubai Dreams” via Supreme Connect Entertainment. Set to the tone of bouncy, airy production, the budding emcee’s authentic African tone reigns supreme as he lists off some of his dreams as well as a few lofty items that can be found in the luxurious city of Dubai. “Dubai Dreams” is also about the people who believe in us and know that there’s a higher power that guides us to our dreams. The song’s sound can be best described as trap with a more uplifting vibe that can help you visualize a better tomorrow and aspire for the finer things in life. Although Ko-Bena is currently promoting “Dubai Dreams,” he actually wrote the song several years ago when Dubai was being built. He always felt a strong connection to the illustrious city which is definitely present throughout the track. “Dubai is the city that rose from the desert. With our dreams, we can rise from the mud.” If you’re looking for free-spirited music that’s backed by a positive message and intention, make sure to stream “Dubai Dreams” today.

“Faded” // Razzion drops soulful new-age mood music

“Faded” // Razzion drops soulful new-age mood music

It’s irresistibly soulful. The way the tranquil, yet iridescent chords of Razzion’s “Faded” mesh seamlessly with waving ambience and gilded guitars. Perhaps, such is to be expected of a track so wholly devoted to love: as, the moment this New Jersey spitter parts his lips, we are warped into his world of romance and charm. “Let’s get comfortable in a coup / Make love into a loop...” If the amorous production aforementioned failed to set the tone, these first two bars will. Complimented by his calm flow, Razzion’s lyrics wholeheartedly inspirit the intention of this boom-bap banger. To whomever “Faded” is dedicated, the message resounds loud and clear: Razzion is intoxicated with her love. It is a phenomenon millions of us can relate to, which will make it an undeniable cruise down memory lane, the moment you press play. As the first single from his upcoming album, “Faded” is marvelous. It is lovingly subtle, yet packs a poignant punch; as we can expect his full-length to do upon its ultimate drop.

“Hold Up” // Jody Moët toasts to success with new-age hiphop anthem

His latest mixtape is on the way, and in that vein, Jody Moet could not resist giving us a taste. That taste is “Hold Up”: a bubbly, yet torrid showcase of this Northwestern emcee’s lyrical and emotional capacity. Being one of the most recent drops from his projected full-length, LIONHEARTED, it should come as no surprise that this three-minute banger completely embodies the spirit of his mixtape’s title. Sidestep the tropical essence of “Hold Up”’s melodies and instrumentation, and you are left with growling 808’s, prancing percussions, and a roar of relative rhymes. For, within these well-rapped verses, Jody Moet bears the dint of his lion-esque soul. He has been betrayed and abandoned more times than he can count; yet, just as the trap drums continue to beat throughout the mix, so has his heart, throughout every turmoil he’s encountered. This determination to survive and overcome, that he reminds us of with every bar he delivers, is no different from the king of the jungle’s; proving that Joey Moet is the LIONHEARTED himself. “Hold Up” is a motivating anthem in that regard. A three-minute reminder that you too can overcome life’s catastrophes, no matter their capacities. In need of a banger whose message is just as great as its groove? Look no further than “Hold Up”; and keep your ears open for LIONHEARTED, dropping June 28th.

“Christian Lou” // Prince Legend is flexin' hard on newage trap banger

“Christian Lou” // Prince Legend is flexin' hard on newage trap banger

“Christian Lou” // Prince Legend is flexin' hard on newage trap banger

A standout cut from this Toronto upstart’s 2018 debut is the phenomenal “Christian Lou”. For three minutes, we are warped into the slow-thumping wash of Prince Legend’s fourth “Black Waterfalls” cut, where autotune and free-flowing rhymes drizzle cleanly around you. Even the melody is particularly aquatic. Sluggish, watery synths run calmly behind the artist, sparkled by light, yet coinciding bells. What enhances “Christian Lou”’s specialty is how easily the Canadian emcee blends into the current. He never forces himself against the tide; instead maneuvering his delivery and flow in perfect synergy with the music around him, offering a lax, atmospheric sound. For those warm, summery nights, cruising through your local, metropolitan area, “Christian Lou” is unrivaled. It is a banger capable of being effortlessly enjoyed.

"Dope" // Brandon Mitchell delivers stunning visuals for new feel-good hiphop banger

One thing that will always go absolutely respected over here is versatility. The ability, as an artist, to prove that your talent extends beyond just one form of artistry; and how variously you can connect with the audience of the world. After dropping his modern-trap dedication to his younger brother, “25”, Brandon Mitchell is spinning back around with “Dope”; and its sonic difference from the aforementioned banger proves exactly that: he has much more to offer the globe. Featuring Rockomal and Sasha Mari, “Dope” is a more intensely, melody-powered track; bolting a luscious, slow-jam groove that totally rivals the last. It exhibits Brandon Mitchell in a completely different atmosphere; spitting over a colorful chord progression, ghostly background vocals, and bouncing trap drums. The music video that chaperones this drop is just as vibrant; depicting the Kansas emcee, as well as who appears to be Rockomal, rocking to the feel-good smash in the middle of a desert. If not a metaphor for this summery single, it certainly could be. The song is as hot as the earth they are walking on. Between Brandon Mitchell’s rhymes, Rockomal’s and Sasha Mari’s unique, sing-song offerings, and the torrid production that backs them, “Dope” is definitely poised to rule our May, June, and July. And this lyricist, with his immaculate versatility, poised to climb the charts.

“The Wknd” // Rhyman is hiphop greatness on new 11-track album

“The Wknd” // Rhyman is hiphop greatness on new 11-track album

“The Wknd” // Rhyman is hiphop greatness on new 11-track album

Most upcoming artists in Hip-Hop want nothing more than fame. The art takes a backseat to imagery, trends and social media stunts that will garner them a mainstream break. Few rising rap acts truly value the artistry and prospect of Hip-Hop; however, Swiss emcee, Rhyman, refuses to submit to that case. If anything, his new album, “The Wknd”, is a revival of lyricism and substance in a day where those elements seem to be dwindling away. The eleven track project sports of variety of Golden Era-styled beats, yet, this is not the sole factor that assigns “The Wknd” its Hip-Hop greatness. It is Rhyman’s proficiency as an emcee that makes this album an outlier of 2019. Whether you are cruising to the climatic opener, “Welcome 2 The Wknd”; awe-striking boom-bap cuts, such as “What If” and “Heaven”; the tranquil confessional of “No Sen$e”; or the abstract bangers, “Smog & Fire”, “Basick” and “Outro”; you will never hear Rhyman falter. He remains at the apex of his lyrical game for the duration of “The Wknd”. Does he reference wanting fame and a mainstream break as much as his fellow upcoming artists? Absolutely. However, the difference between him and them, is that Rhyman is willing to earn acclaim the only way you should in Hip-Hop: with creativity, honesty, and pure bars. He brings that triple package to “The Wknd”, and in doing so, has created an album that is true to the culture he breathes.

TheFNKing merges genres with powerful new mixtape: “Long Live King”

TheFNKing merges genres with powerful new mixtape: “Long Live King”

Houston rapper, TheFNKing’s, latest single, “Walk Away”, is as angelic as it is nefarious. Contrasting the abysmal, villainous Jordan Vandy-production that upholds it, is the seraphic singing of Holly Simmons on the chorus; bestowing a powerful duplexity onto an already vigorous record. Darkly, keys sparkle in the background of the beat, furthered by the lunge of piano chords and moving trap percussion. Like a light at the end of the tunnel, Holly Simmons splits this darkness with a resplendent belt, igniting a catchy, soul-stirring hook with every breath. That light only glows brighter with the blast of King’s awe-striking first verse. In this verse, and the one after it, King delivers that classic, Texan passion no ear can resist. The microphone is utterly crushed under the weight of his spirit, as he volleys bar after bar in a pure fire of conviction. Truly, “Walk Away” is for the fierce and determined. It is a roar of perseverance; and when matched with others, on TheFNKing’s “Long Live King” mixtape, the world is destined to hear.

Christiano Can debut hiphop album "F . A . N . S" is here!

Christiano Can

"F . A . N . S"

Silky, soulful and smooth. Those three words will be the first and only rebounding through your mind, once play is clicked on Christiano Can’s “F.A.N.S” extended-play. As the rapper’s debut project, “F.A.N.S” seeks to make a grandiose introduction; and it delivers that statement in more eclectic ways than one. First and foremost, the soulful, sophisticated textures of this music make it a awe-striking, pleasant listen from the jump. Golden horns, colorful chords, and a luscious female vocal form a dreamscape out of the intro-track “D.A.F.H.A.H”. Style changes as the tape progresses; with a variety of sounds, rhythms and grooves, erupting from the depths of the mix. Raw, quirky Hip-Hop is at the root of “Oddly Awkward” (Neo-Soul gushing throughout its remix), and pure, undulating Funk bubbling about the final track, “I’m Only Crazy”. Alongside this evidence of Christiano Can’s uniqueness as an artist, there is the overwhelming proof of his competence as a rapper. As the EP surges on, Christiano draws from myriad flows. On the track, “Oddly Awkward”, something Eminem-esque is transpiring; with our genre-rapper having the lyrics to do it justice, as well. He is nonchalant on the remix, smooth on the intro-track, and energetic on the out. As sporadic as “F.A.N.S” is as a body of work, it is immensely impressive and certainly satisfying. All over it is the mark of true musical artistry; and we can do nothing but look forward to Christiano Can’s drops on the 5th of every month this year. Fingers crossed, they’ll be as jaw-dropping as this.
