Let us all take in the simple notion that “life is a journey with a couple forks in and maybe a few dead-ends.” Not only is this statement a tried and tested mantra, but it’s also a lyric from Proper Einstein’s new single “Sunny Weather.” Stylized as an ode to joy despite the pitfalls of life, the track is all about finding beauty in the misfortune that we experience as people. Things may not always be perfect, but there is still a light at the end of the tunnel that guides us to where we need to be. It’s about how you choose to see life, and Proper Einstein is telling us all that positivity is the best avenue to take.
To call “Sunny Weather” a feel-good anthem would be to undercut the versatility that Proper Einstein has as an artist. Coming out of a small town in Georgia, PE grew up with an eclectic variety of sounds like hip hop, Nirvana-style rock, and electronic music to inspire and drive him forward in life. Today, he is capable of posing himself within any of these musical genres and has chosen his attempt with “Sunny Weather” to be a twangy pop-rock banger that sounds a lot like something you’d find in a contemporary Weezer album or on alternative pop radio. Proper Einstein truly is a musical chameleon and shows in this track that he’s capable of putting a big smile on your face and a good tune in your ear.
There’s no better way to tell viewers to stay positive than to show them how a bad day can turn around in the end. Having just broken his car down on the side of the road, Proper Einstein leads the “Sunny Weather” video as a down-on-his-luck guy who treks far and wide to get to a gas station only to trip on the way and ruin his shirt with a sports drink. Although he has seen much better days at this point in his life, our protagonist’s outlook takes a positive turn when he finds brand new shoes that are just his size and uses them to get the attention of a pretty young lady. Life really is what you make of it and “Sunny Weather” is Proper Einstein’s way of saying that it’s easy to make life a sweet thing if you try.
