We are an independent hip hop group who go by the name of Lost Minds Collective (acronym, L.M.C.). There are three of us who make up the group for the most part all from southern Cali: KiDDStrAnge, Roach1503 and AnGeL The Fallen. Each of us have our main core taste for music that differentiates us but share the same love for raw underground lyrical, spitting hip hop that most people can relate to on a day to day basis. We have many musical influences all across the spectrum and since there’s three of us, we bring all of our different music influences to the table. From Underground hip hop to rock, punk, pop, mainstream, classic rock etc. you name it Why is that? cause no matter the genre, a well written song, that is a great song and is a well written song, now that’s a skillful ingredient mixed in with some magic! Magic?, well a chemistry.. and by that I mean, you ever wonder why great bands, like Metallica or rap groups like The Wu-Tang. Just vibed so well, is cause the chemistry amongst each other they naturally had which made naturally great music. L.M.C holds that chemistry, we keep music 1000 first, positive vibes up, rock with us and let’s hit the peddle to the metal! READY TO GO!!! RESURRECTION we recorded in 2 days, 7hrs a day between three people. UNLOCKED DOORS IS OUR LASTEST PROJECT. It’s full of emotion and steps in life that will unlock doors to move up in life, so check us out! We do our own recordings and video edits. We grind away!! Kobe Bryant’s jersey number’s were 8 and 24; Appropriate to remember as we approach August 24th, 2020

Callaway Jones is pacing back and forth across the studio. He’s listening to the most recent version of his new single, “8:24 in LA”, an homage to the late and great Kobe Bryant, a man whom he looked up to from his youth. He stops to take a quick selfie for his fans on the ‘gram, flashing his million dollar smile, and just as quickly, the smile disappears as he falls back into thoughts of the now deceased Kobe Bryant.

Kobe Bryant was a barometer of sorts for a young Callaway Jones to compare himself with, back in East Lansing, Michigan, where he was born. His parents divorced when he was seven years old, and his life was split between the inner city streets of Detroit and the suburban utopia of East Lansing. His unique situation is perhaps the underlying secret to his often whip smart lyrical tyranny in his songs.

What sticks out the most about his music is that it’s never from a perspective already heard elsewhere. The closest artists you could compare him to would be a Drake, effortlessly drifting between singing and rapping, or a Kendrick, or a Jay-Z, often rifting on the political climate of the nation and providing unfiltered perspective with a cultural lens entirely his own.

“8:24 in LA” is no different. The craftsmanship on display while describing who Kobe Bryant was to the world is second to only his description of what Kobe Bryant appeared to be to other players trying to guard him; that is to say a demi-god, with metaphorical wrapped bars like “All the tickets was sold, they were watching purple and gold, and Kobe Bryant was cold, and all of the players know, that guarding him was a joke, and stopping him was a lie, the vertical on this man was infinite ‘cuz he could fly”. Callaway Jones vividly paints images of what it’s like to play against Kobe and aggressively grabs the attention of the listener while simultaneously motivating them. This is a record you listen to and immediately want to go to the gym.

Callaway Jones’ birth name is Michael Simpson Jr, and upon inspection, it is revealed that he is not new to the entertainment industry, despite the “humble braggish” air around him, having had a very strong mid-tier and on going career as a filmmaker and an actor. If “8:24 in LA” is any indication, we are witnessing the solidification of a new entry for his resume; Hip Hop star.

“8:24 in LA” will release on August 24th, 2020 worldwide as an homage to Kobe Bryant’s first and second jersey numbers, respectively, and has been released early in iTunes and on Apple Music now, as part of an ongoing 1st look relationship with Apple. It can be listened to on Apple Music here:

Life was just up on me 35-3. I had cut my dreads and all, but since then a lot has changed, hence the title. I have no favorite song because each song has a different meaning, but they all mean something. If I had to give a top 5, it would be “Letter To The Streets,” “Bacc End,” “Hood Lullaby,” “Forever,” and “NH Hero.”

The Flesh Must Die is an album about DooBoyCoy trying to get rid of Slick. You can’t open new doors doing things old ways.

In 2005 my motto was scratch over snatch. 

In 2010 my motto was stash and learn or crash and burn.

2020 my motto is But GOD. 

Nobody but GOD could have saved a sinner like me. 

 

My street name and former alias was Slick Smart. My first album came out in 2005 tilted Scratch over Snatch. I quit rapping because I was living the life and I didn’t think it was smart to be rapping about how we were really living. I chose the trap or it chose me. But eventually a different choice had to be made. Do I wanna grow for my children or continue to live in this curse.

 

Slick Smart was somebody I created because everyone was constantly trying to manipulate me to play me and I was constantly praying to GOD for wisdom and knowledge because it’s all I ever prayed for. DooBoyCoy is my real name now and me trying to step into my true self. Altanta-based independent hip hop artist Daja Marie today announced her self-titled DAJA MARIE debut EP is set to release this Fall on October 2. Daja recently dropped her single and music video, “Closet Freakk,” which is available now for streaming and download on all major digital platforms. The record, produced by multi-platinum super producer Caviar The Secret Specialist, is a perfectly-timed rap-anthem of liberation curated for boss women around the globe who answer to no one about their sexual business behind closed doors.  

The “Closet Freakk” video, filmed in Atlanta, GA, was directed by filmmaker Nikhol Ray.  Daja Marie is followed by a nosey gossiper and her friend that is made to believe that her man is creeping with Daja. As she peruses through her evening preparing for a sultry night with her undisclosed lover, assuming stalkers are surprised to discover that all of the men Daja came in contact with were merely helping her make arrangements for an intimate night with her spouse.  

“'Closet Freakk' was made for the girl that everyone sees as a "thot" but no one really knows her. It’s for the gorgeous girl that’s popular; the girl they love to spread fake news about, the single woman free to date who she wants. It’s for the woman in a relationship that’s a boss and a rock for her spouse in public, with morals and yet a complete freak in the sheets. Closet Freakk could be you, Closet Freakk could be me. But the freakk is in the closet so only the chosen see,” shared Daja Marie of her debut track. Speaking on the evolution of her career in music, she shared, “since taking a hiatus from going hard full time in my music, I have matured in my business and evolved in my turn up. Any hesitation that I had in the past is gone. I truly know who I am in my music and know the business behind it.”

The Indiana-born hip hop artist’s coming into the spotlight follows the recent evolution of a decade-long career in fashion and entertainment, both as a ghost-writer for major and independent artists, as well as a Fashion Editor and TV Personality for The Hype Magazine. Daja Marie honed her performance chops, rocking the stage with widely known artists such as Silkk The Shocker, Bianca Bonnie, Talone, and Driicky Graham. Daja Marie is looking forward to topping the highlight of her journey thus far, gracing the stage in a packed house at Stankonia Studios alongside Nigel Stargate, Keith Robinson and friends.
